A good ski bag should do 2 things; offer optimum protection for your skis throughout all kinds of travel, and it should last long enough to be a good investment.

1.A good ski bag needs full length and width padding. This is the the best protection for your skis, but a single layer of any fabric anywhere in the bag will not protect the bag from the skis. One small rub of your skis in a single wall bag against a rough surface and holes can start to form. The padding and the tough double wall nylons protect the bag as well as the skis!

2.The fabric is very important. We use Dupont 1050 D ballistic nylon on the exterior wall, and Dupont 1000 D Cordura nylon on the interior. Nylon is the best fabric available for ski bags. Most ski bags you see in ski shops are made in mass in the Orient from 600 D vinyl coated polyester. Simply put, polyester is a little bit lower on the quality chain than nylon. Coating it with vinyl does not make up for the poor strength qualities as vinyl tends to crack with use and lower temperatures. We use 1000 D Cordura as a liner in our bag, It is much more than what most bags use as an exterior.

3. A well designed ski bag should last 5 to 10 years being used nearly every day. Over that much time, your cost per year can be relatively low.
